Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Despite having been initially confirmed for the film, and with the film already into principal photography, it was announced that Megan Fox would not be reprising her role from the previous two films. With Fox's character (Mikaela Banes) being dropped, Sam was assigned a new love interest, portrayed by English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Also, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, having written the last two films, did not return for this installment in the series, which Orci had earlier somewhat anticipated, fearing the duo would "risk getting stale". Bay has stated this would be his last installment in the series. In May 2011, it was announced that Paramount Pictures had bumped Transformers: Dark of the Moon's release date of July 1, 2011, two days earlier, June 29, in order to receive an early response to footage. The film was then released one day earlier, June 28, in select 3D and IMAXtheatres, nationwide.

World War Zombie

A lot of people seemed to be pretty excited about an adaptation of the Max Brooks novel, World War Z. The book tells the story of a zombie outbreak and the human fight against them told through various first-person accounts of the devastating event.
A movie adaptation of the book has been in the works for a long while now with Brad Pitt attached to star and his Plan B Entertainment producing. The script was originally written by J. Michael Straczynski and recently rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan, with Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster locked to helm the project. Even with the long developmental period all signs pointed to World War Z being a huge future blockbuster, but now Paramount Pictures is having second thoughts…and they might just call it off completely.

Revolves around a family who recently moved and know that evil spirits haunt the houseand their son under mysterious coma. Trying to save himself and his son, they decidedto move again, but only to discover that their house was haunted.

 

Noah Is a Big, Non-Religious Event Says Darren Aronofsky

Earlier this month, we reported that Darren Aronofsky's next project will be the biblical tale Noah, after hedropped out of directing The Wolverine back in March. The director recently gave some more details on Noah, stating he doesn't believe it is exactly a religious story.

"I don't think it's a very religious story. I think it's a great fable that's part of so many different religions and spiritual practices. I just think it's a great story that's never been on film."

The director also believes this story, a big-budget re-telling of the Noah's Ark story, is his shot at helming a large-scale, massive production.

"I want to make a big event film, and I think it can be that."

We also reported last week that Christian Bale is being eyed to play the title character, although the director did not respond to that story.

Beastly (2011)

Beastly is a 2011 romantic fantasy film loosely based on Alex Flinn's 2007 novel of the same name. It is a retelling of the fairytale Beauty and the Beast set in modern-day New York City. The film is written and directed by Daniel Barnz and stars Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer.

The plot focuses on Kyle Kingson, a wealthy and arrogant high school student. During an environmental event, he disrespects a classmate, who is secretly a witch in disguise. The witch then casts a spell on Kyle to disfigure his body and face, giving him a year to find love or be left with his monstrous appearance forever.

It was expected to be distributed to theaters by CBS Films and Alliance Films on July 30, 2010. However, it was moved to March 18, 2011, in order to avoid Hudgens's film from clashing with the release of Zac Efron's film Charlie St. Cloud, but in January 2011, it was bumped up to March 4, 2011.

Scream 4

It's hard to believe it's been 15 years since the first Scream.

One of the first horror films to self-referentially send up its own genre, the script (written by Kevin Williamson, who's responsible for the whole franchise) was clever, the characters a mix of earnest (Neve Campbell's heroine Sidney Prescott) and buffoon (David Arquette's Deputy Dewey), and the frights were visceral and vice-like.

Add to this the villain's creepy phone voice and the mask that spawned a million halloween costumes and it was clear the original movie deserved its accolades.

Director Wes Craven turns 72 this year. The undisputed maestro of horror who kept us awake for years following A Nightmare on Elm Street had been dishing out the frights since 1972's The Last House on the Left, and seemed to understand the teen fan base incredibly well when his first Scream film came along.

Three sequels later, he may still be down with the kids, but the game has moved on without him.

While the self-professed torture porn of the Saw films is not the only way to do horror nowadays (evidenced by far superior European fare like Let the Right One In), Scream 4 is neither as good as its forebears, nor innovative enough to warrant the series' resurrection.

Rabbit Hole

Rabbit Hole is a 2010 drama film starring Nicole Kidman, Aaron Eckhart, and Dianne Wiest, and directed by John Cameron Mitchell; the screenplay is an adaptation by David Lindsay-Abaire of his 2005 play of the same name. Kidman produced the project via her company, Blossom Films. The film premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2010. Lionsgate distributed the film. The plot deals with a couple struggling to heal after the untimely death of their young son. Nicole Kidman was critically acclaimed for her performance as Becca Corbett and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

It received a limited US theatrical release on December 17, 2010 and expanded nationwide on January 14, 2011

Film Trailer Review The Mechanic 2011 Synopsis: I went back to watching the action of a professional assassin, played by the actor who soared through the action film The Transporter in "The Mechanic". The film The Mechanic is a "remake" film titled the same as The Mechanic similar where the protagonist of Arthur Bishop is played by Charles Bronson (released early in 1972). Jason plays the character of Arthur Bishop of the present course with different interpretations and styles.
The film lasted 92 minutes and directed by Simon West presents spectacular action scenes. As a professional assassin, Arthur interpret a given task well and try not to involve the emotions in it, as good as anything happens. He fulfilled that obligation in a neat, detailed and make it like a lifestyle as "the cold of death and mysterious. "

The Adventures of TinTin: The Secret of the Unicorn (26th October 2011)

Everybody’s favourite Belgian reporter, cow licked hair and all, is making his way to the big screen in The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Thankfully veering well clear of live-action, this Steven Spielberg directed film could very well be the animated film of the year. Voices are provided by Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg and Andy Serkins. Phew. Not bad.

I Am Number Four (18th February 2011)

Now this looks epic! Alex Pettyfer, whom you may remember from Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, takes up the lead as Number Four in this sci-fi film about people with groovy powers who are being hunted by…something – the trailer isn’t too specific. But what the I Am Number Four trailer does show off looks really good, with badass people in black coats being badass and people with glowing hands throwing stuff around. With luck this might very well turn into the next big sci/fi franchise.

X-men: First Class (2nd June 2011)

The first X-men will always have a special place in film history. It was the first comic book adaptation to show audiences – and studios – that films depicting spandex wearing heroes could be quite a spectacle to behold. Thus began the “Marvel/DC Effect” with every possible comic being put forward as a potential film franchise. What is refreshing about X-men: First Class is that it really appears to be going back to the beginning of the X-men story; looking into the origins of the quintessential battle between good and evil. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, young Xavier and Magneto respectively, form the leads with support from the beautiful Rose Byrne.
