Working Girls

Working Girls (2011) Review - Working Girls is a film by Nia Dinata the theme of women's lives. Unlike the previous films, this film takes the type of documentary. There are three titles of stories and is served by a different director. The first part, entitled Five More Minutes Ah .. Ah .. Ah .. will be directed by Sally Anom Sammaria Simajuntak and that took the life story of a young singer named Ayu Riana dangdut.Dangdut singer from Bandung was a talent show winner Stardut 2008.
The girl who was 14 years old was forced to shore up family life.
Ayu life of popularity that began to sag, and then try to bounce back. Popularity is soaring in an instant is directly proportional to his income which is increasingly dwindling days. At the beginning of a career in the entertainment industry, Ayu had received a fee of Rp 10 million each time gig. Honor it continued to decline until he was forced to perform at weddings in a narrow alley for a fee of Rp 500 thousand.
However, Ayu willing to undergo the twists for the sake of his family and personal ambition to be famous dangdut singer. In the second part, titled Origin Not There movie The wind lifted the lives of the artists ketoprak. They live from one place to another by opening a small complex ketoprak performances. They sleep beneath the stage and decrepit shack that can be dismantled at any tide.
Every time gig, they only get paid for quiet Rp2 thousand spectators. Even so, they still rely on life from the arts that began to be abandoned because of erosion of the television. Best to deal with poverty they experienced.
While in the third section and directed by David Sumolang Nazyra C Noer entitled Ulfie Home Village. The film tells the story of a transsexual named Ulfie originated from Aceh. To survive, Ulfie salon opened in Jakarta. Zulfikar transvestite whose real name is HIV / Aids.
Ulfie decided to return home to see family who for years was visited. While in Aceh, Ulfie see the reality of his fellow transvestites many died because of HIV / Aids. Therefore, Ulfie campaigning about the dangers of HIV / Aids to fellow drag queen. He did not want a lot of colleagues who died because he never gets access to information about dangerous virus.
Although the duration of 120 minutes, this movie did not make the audience bored.Nia option to make a documentary is not without reason. With a documentary, which appointed three story really true and not contrived. The plot allowed to flow without a script, no director. Through interviews of people who are in this story makes us delve further into their lives without a predictable ending.
The final choice of the story in the documentary is indeed illustrates that women are made into the film was still struggling to realize his dreams until now. We are no longer surprised by the themes of gender, feminism has always lifted Nia Dinata.History of discrimination and the domestication of women are born as human civilization. As a woman activist, it's okay if the movie never stops Nia critique and resistance to patriarchal culture that tends to subordinated women.
